FIELD NOTES: On Dangerous Desires
An exploration of impulse and discipline, and the cost of trading depth for a quick hit.
Why is what we do wholesome for who we want to become?
Where do you draw the line? Stuff, an experience, a startling arousal that comes alive out of nowhere. As if we cannot resist its temptation, allow it to violate our sacred principles.
The fantasy borderless, the stronger the craving and response for reward. A wealth of resources to evolve—yet neglected through the rush of things. So the brake becomes heavier, while buried thoughts amass until confronted. By indulgence, verdict falls, clearing fog before grey eyes. At that point the truth reveals its mask.
Chin up, you arm yourself for future delay of gratification, face down, another waits for the next cue to present itself.
Be wary of diamonds that fade in brilliance. They return like a mirage hoping to trick you once more until fully barred. There, the captives plot endless gratification, cast away in a flash. Sooner or later, these bluffs don't slip through the cracks anymore, revealing their harmful nature.
Disappointments rise as waves of reflection to those that believe. Instead of sweeping them underground, they have it fluster their hair like a passing wind. The brake relieves, and allows them to glance around again.
Routines reevaluated for they no longer justify your standard. The irregular past aside for a vision, dim at first, burning brighter with each step. A higher playing field, that chooses the scarier path over the "obvious" one. Do not be mistaken by artificial control in today's society, for it moulds purity into empty shells. Dangerous and limited to shield one's fragility for nothing is permanent. Remember all is fluid like water.
What we feel, is what we perceive, and thus our actions must lead. In this life, aren’t we all put to the test? So the next moment you're hesitant, do take that walk. Some might unfold into grand revelations.
Only the unknown knows the unknown treasures on its own.
Trust the hunch. Find the story.
