Who we are

Stewardship and access We keep the full experience for members to protect the people in our films and sustain the studio. You will always find meaningful previews in public and a clear way to join if the work speaks to you.
Rights and sharing
Copyright: All films, writing, images, and audio are © HunchMaker / Antoine Van Aerde, all rights reserved.
Please share the link, not the file. Do not re-upload our videos or re-publish full posts without written permission.
Excerpts: You may quote up to 100 words with a clear link to the original page and credit to HunchMaker.
Stills: Approved press stills are available upon request. Do not scrape or rehost our images.
Embeds: Do not embed our videos outside hunchmaker.com or our Substack without written permission.
Member license (what you may do) When you subscribe, you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to:
View member posts and films on HunchMaker and our Substack/app.
Save links for personal reference. What you may not do without permission:
Download, re-upload, or redistribute videos/files.
Publicly screen or exhibit the films (including events, classes, or live streams).
Use our content for commercial purposes. For educational or community screenings, email us for a simple, low-cost license.
Commissioned work and disclosures Some stories begin as commissioned projects for clients or partners. When we share an excerpt:
We will note the commission and publish with permission.
We do not accept payment to alter our editorial voice. Example credit: "Created with the support of [Client]. Shared here with permission because its heart belongs to the larger story we tell at HunchMaker."
Community expectations We moderate to protect the people in these stories.
Be kind, stay on topic, add value. Lived experience is welcome; personal attacks are not.
No harassment, doxxing, or invasive speculation about subjects.
No spam or self‑promotion without meaningful context. Comments may be limited to subscribers. We reserve the right to remove comments that put people at risk or lower the quality of the space.
Privacy and data
Platform: We publish on Substack. Substack processes payments, sends emails, sets cookies, and provides analytics under their Terms and Privacy Policy.
Our use: We access your email, name, and subscription status to deliver posts, respond to you, and manage your membership. We do not sell your data.
Unsubscribe: You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email or manage settings in your Substack account.
Subjects in films: Featured individuals appear with consent appropriate to the project. For corrections or removal requests, write to us. We respond within 72 hours.
Payments, renewals, and refunds
Billing: Subscriptions are billed by Substack/Stripe per the plan you choose (monthly or annual) and renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date.
Cancel anytime in your Substack account settings. Access remains until the end of the paid period.
Refunds: We generally do not offer refunds for partially used billing periods, but we’ll consider good-faith exceptions at our discretion. If something went wrong, email us and we’ll help.
Third‑party services and links We may embed or link to third‑party services (e.g., Vimeo). We are not responsible for their content, availability, or policies. Please review their terms independently.
Intellectual property and trademarks "HunchMaker," our logos, and visual identities are trademarks or trade dress of HunchMaker / Antoine Van Aerde. Do not use our marks without written permission.
Press, education, and licensing
Press: For quotes, stills, or interview requests, email us. We’ll provide approved assets.
Education/community: We offer simple licenses for classroom and community screenings.
Partners: For collaboration and non-exclusive licensing, contact us to discuss scope and rates.
DMCA and takedown requests If you believe our work is copied or used without authorization on another site:
Send us a notice with: your contact info, the original HunchMaker URL, the infringing URL, and a good‑faith statement that use is not authorised. We will act promptly. If you are a rights holder seeking removal of content on HunchMaker, contact us; we’ll review and respond within 72 hours.
No warranties; limitation of liability We publish our work "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind and are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from use of this site or content.
Changes to these terms We may update these terms to reflect new features, policies, or laws. Material changes will be noted here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law These terms are governed by the laws of [your country/state]. Venue for disputes will be the courts of [your city/region], unless otherwise required by law.
